Penguicon 4.0 was one of the most fun conventions I've ever been to. That's saying a lot.

Chaos Machine progress Later in the weekend the Chaos Machine marble rollercoaster has become even more elaborate. |
Char This is my new friend Char, a programmer and a Linux enthusiast. She helped me cover a whole hallway's wall with the schedule of the entire weekend of Penguicon. |
Coffee Ritual sermon I am giving the coffee "sermon" at the coffee ritual while Narf and Andrea look on. |

Stuffed Animal Tea Party Alison Looney, on the left, threw a tea party for stuffed animals and their friends. Her guests include Mike, whose head can be seen above the bear, Andy Looney at the end of the table with the mouse he carries in his pocket, Shaun Klein and Clark Rodeffer next to him, and on the far right Megan and Moonbeam. |
Swan costume Here is a photo from Penguicon's masquerade presentation. I wasn't there to hear the presentation, but the costume can speak for itself. It says "swan" to me! *Edited to add: ![]() |

Sword duel: Sal vs. Sean Sal takes on Sean on the hotel's putt-putt green. |

Date: 2006-04-24 08:27 pm (UTC)That and "boffer swords" are SCA equipment (Aegis!= SCA). It's more appropriate to call Aegis equipment "practice swords".

Date: 2006-04-24 08:41 pm (UTC)(p.s. there's a second caption that references "wood and foam rubber")
Re: Swordfighting captions
Date: 2006-04-25 05:03 pm (UTC)The main difference between "boffers" and Aegis swords is the existence of a flat, unpadded part. It takes more control to use these properly as opposed to the completely round and padded boffer swords that won't hurt if you turn them the wrong way.
Thanks for putting the pictures up; they are all great. :)
