Texas trip begins
Aug. 9th, 2006 02:14 pmI'm very grateful to my brother Andy for waking up at the same time I did, 3:45 AM, and driving me to the airport to catch my early flight. Here I am in Texas, visiting the home of my wonderful and beautiful loved one,
eposia. I'm going to be online until about midnight, while she's at work. Feel free to message me.
I got to meet
todfox upon arrival at the airport, and his flight departed hours after mine arrived. It was also neat to see how he and
eposia picked up each other's speech patterns. I regretted arranging the scheduling in such a way that I got to spend so little time with him.
I'm so lucky to be able to take trips through the generosity of loved ones who want to see me. Given that I am considered to have had the most success in making Lojban fun to non-academic layman types, there is currently some talk in the Lojban community of helping me afford to go to Philcon, to attend the annual Lojban festival. "What? Epkat isn't going to be there? Expletive attitudinal token!" There is currently an event scheduled which is intended to be shared by the leaders of the Logical Language Group (of which yours truly is a board member) and the Klingon Language Institute. I am writing a skit that will simulate a game show with contestants from the two languages.
Just as when someone paid for me to go to Origins and GenCon to demo his games, I would consider such an arrangement a form of working for my fellow jbopre. Thus if it works out, I would faithfully man the fan table, performing my fun Lojbanic dog-and-pony show. I would stop only occasionally to seek out that literary demigod, Philcon's GoH Charlie Stross, to tell him about Penguicon. Their other GoH, Tom Smith, is already sure to attend Penguicon.
Speaking of artificial languages, here is a comic strip of The Mighty Morphin' Constructed Language Rangers. ( Translation behind the cut. )

In news of other weirdness, did you know whatwouldjesusdownload.com is now distributing a new computer operating system intended just for Christians? This is not a joke.
